Mrs. Annie Merle Simmons, age 90, of Alma passed away August 25, 2023 at Hospice Satilla after a short illness. She was born May 26, 1933 in Bacon County to the late Avery McCorquodale and Viola Melton McCorquodale. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Nashon Milton Simmons; son Larry Simmons; grandson, Christopher Powers; brother, James McCorquodale; sister, Sarah Lawson and son-in-law, John Moore.

Mrs. Simmons was retired from the Bacon County School System and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her four children, Freddy Simmons (Christy) of Alma, Martin Simmons (Linda) of Nicholls, Sharon Moore of Alma and Brenda Moore (Glynn) of Nicholls; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Farm Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral Home Monday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers, Richard Roberts, Garrett Crawford, Dylan Mercer, Shell Simmons, Ashton Crawford, Cameron Crawford and Asher Moore. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
