Benjamin James "B. J." Harrelson, Jr., age 78, of Alma entered his heavenly home May 18, 2023 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after a short illness. He was born September 15, 1944 in Jesup, Georgia but had lived most of his life in Bacon County.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lucy Rodriquez Harrelson, and parents, Benjamin James Harrelson, Sr. and Ruby Gordon Griffis Purvis.

Mr. Harrelson was an Active and Faithful member of Southside Church of God since 1971. He was retired from Suburban Propane; loved spending time with his family and church family. He also served his community for many years with his Heating and Air Condition Business.

Survivors include four children, Andy Harrelson (Angela) of Aiken, SC., Randy Harrelson of Alma, Sandy Walsh (Emmett) of Bay St. Louis, MS. and Angie Dyal Sears (Bobby Hue) of Alma; one sister, Brenda Gray (J .R.) of Jesup; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Southside Church of God with Pastor Mark Carver and Pastor David Deen officiating. Interment will follow in Elizabeth Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Southside Church of God Sunday from 2 :00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Tyler Harrelson, Brandon Boland, Justin Harrelson, Dylan Davis, Will Davis, Dawson Dyal, Eli Dyal and Nate Dyal. Honorary pallbearers will be; Andrew Harrelson, Jr., Robert Boland and Destiny Harrelson.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
