Benny Jackson Hatten, Sr. age 72, of Alma passed away Sunday, July 5th at his residence after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Ernest Jack Hatten and Essie Rigby Bagley. Benny was preceded in death by a brother, John Bagley and his step father Alard Bagley. He was a member of Old Pine Grove Church.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ellen "Arlene" Hatten of Alma, step mother, Virginia Hatten of Alma, four sons, Benny Jackson Hatten, Jr, of Jesup, GA., Ernest John Hatten, Joshua Ben Hatten and Corey Edward Jackson Hatten, one daugter, Alecia Marie Hatten all of Alma, five brothers, Bobby Bagley, Jimmy Bagley, James Hatten all of Alma Scott Hatten of Baxley and Mike Hatten of Texas, one sister, Lynn Stewart of Alma; also three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Sloan officiating. Interment will follow in Horsestomp Cemetery in Waverly, GA. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday, July 8th from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Bobby Bagley, Brian Bagley, Cody Pippen, Michael McCarty, Andy Batten and Derick Rowland. Honorary pallbearers will be; Jackie McLean, Joe Sears, Homer Courson, Sam Edgar, Michael Anderson, Ronnie Sweat, Tony Thrift and Roscoe Slaughter.
