Obituary

Betty Sue Jackson Johnson, age 90, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Lakeside Senior Center in Douglas, Georgia after an extended illness. She was born August 10, 1934 in Bacon County to Clinton Ervin Jackson and Ruby McLean Jackson.

Mrs. Johnson was retired from the Bacon County School System where she taught for 30 years and was a member of Alma First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Thomas (R.T.) Johnson, two brothers, Cecil Jackson and Donny Jackson and sister, Christine Jackson. Survivors include her daughter, Amy Burkett (Vance), three grandsons, Ben Burkett (Jessica), Reed Burkett and Clint Burkett (Alaina); four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Bridger, Joy, and Chandler; brother, Freddy Jackson (Carolyn); sisters-in-law, Jane Powell (Michael) and Debbie Parker and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Clint Burkett, Reed Burkett, Ben Burkett, and Pastor Wayne Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be Loyd Johnson, Charlie Powell, Dan and Tom Parker, Chris Jones and Tim Tyre. Honorary pallbearers will be Lakeside Senior Living Staff, Former Students, Retired Educators and all others in attendance.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the R. T. Johnson Scholarship Fund at Pineland Bank.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
