Obituary

Betty Wanell Parker, age 85, of Alma, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born October 16, 1939, in Appling County to the late Frank Griffin and Mary Idell Leggett Griffin.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James F. Parker; her daughter, Sheila Bennett; and her brothers, J.F. Griffin, Johnny Griffin, and Ray Griffin.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Parker; her brother, Henry Griffin; and her sisters, Maxine Martin, Wilma Sweatt, Janie Batten, Kay Moore, and Charlotte Gruber. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Randy (Leslie) and Dale Evans, as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Harper and Pastor Jason King officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, August 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Larry Boatright, Clifton Kersey, Alex Evans, Austin Branch, Joshua Chestnut, Alex Thomas, and Hunter Evans. Honorary pallbearers include Sister Dorothy Dotson, Glenise Wade, and Kara Jones.

Mrs. Parker will be remembered for her love of family, her kind heart, and the legacy she leaves behind.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
