Billy Quentin Futch, age 83, of Alma died Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016, at his residence after a short illness. He was a native of Coffee County but had lived in Alma most of his life. He was the son of the late Rufus Edgar "Dock" and Kennie Tanner Futch. Billy was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Edgar "Buster" Futch, Sr., two brothers-in-law, W. E. Henriott Sr. and Jimmy C. Henriott and one sister-in-law, Marie Wilcox Futch. Billy was a member of the Alma United Methodist Church, the American Legion, the V.F.W., and he was a master farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruth Henriott Futch, two daughters, Margaret Futch Smith (Gene) of Alma and Marla Futch Wiggins (Kirk) of Augusta, one sister-in-law, Myra H. Henriott of Vidalia, four grandchildren, Patrick Eugene Smith of Athens, Margaret Katelyn "Katie" Smith of Oxford, MS., Phillip Austin Wiggins and Luke Alexander Wiggins both of Augusta, three nephews, Kenneth E. Futch, Jr. of Alma, Earl and Van A. Henriott of Vidalia, one niece, Jana Marie Futch of Alma, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6th, at 2:00 PM, at the Alma United Methodist Church, with Rev. Allen Hartsfield and the Rev. Ronnie Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday night, May 5th, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Douglas, Charles Carter, Rodney Mullis, Van A. Henriott, Earl Henriott, Gavin Vickers, David Pryor, Freddy Jackson, Neil White, Dr. James "Jim" McQuaig, Jr., Windal "Winky" Medders, and Kenneth E. Futch, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bacon County Class of 1950, members of the V.F.W. and members of the American Legion.
