Billy Jack Martin, age 76, of Alma passed away Sunday, June 17th at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Ocilla, GA. but had lived his early in years in Alma, lived many years in Tampa, FL before moving back in Alma in 1999. He was son of the late N C Martin and Leona Taylor Martin and was also preceded in death by his wife Lyla Jo Norris Martin, five brothers Clewis, Stacy, Eddie, Gerald and Doc Martin. He retired as Sales Manager with Lane Limited, a Tobacco Industry. He was recognized in by the tobacco industry in Florida and Texas. Billy Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Martin (Mia) of Mocksville, N C., Perry Martin (Bobbie) of Alma, two daughters, Jennifer Martin of Monroe, GA, Patricia M. Dumas (Russell) of Tampa, FL, a brother, Rickey Martin (Tammy) and a sister, Gail M. Fiveash both of Alma. Also, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 o'clock at New Union Baptist Church with Rev. Edmond Thrift officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening between 6 and 9 P M. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 P M Thursday to lie in state.
