Mims
December 12, 1942 – February 16, 2025
Billy Ray Mims, age 82, of Alma passed away February 16, 2025 after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Harvey Mims, Sr. and Laura Moore Mims. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Mims, grandson, Ryan Mims, sister, LaRue Rigdon and husband Jody, brothers, Harvey Mims, Jr., Cecil Mims, Gregg Rigdon and Donnie Rigdon.
Mr. Mims served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He was retired from CSX Railroad after many years of service and after his retirement he worked with Curtis Hall Construction for 10 years. He was a was a member of Southside Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Robyn Hutcheson Mims; one granddaughter, Kaitlen Mixon; two stepchildren, Levi King wife Kristin and Jessica King Deal husband Ryan; 7 step-grandchildren; a special niece Belinda Walker and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Southside Church of God with Pastor David Deen and Rev. R. M. Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Level Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Shane Bennett, Darrell Griffin, Mike Hall, Brock Beasley, Cody Owens and Nikki Martin. The Class of 1961 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
