Billy Wayne Wilcox, age 76, of Alma, passed away at his residence September 6, 2023, after a short illness. Wayne was a native of Appling County but lived in Alma for many years. He was the son of the late Edwin Frank Wilcox and Alowe Lott Wilcox. He is also preceded in death by a sister Janice Lamb, brother in-law Johnny Coleman, sister in-law Linda Cason, nephew Devin Coleman, 2 nieces Rachel Manning and Rhonda Sue Coleman, and his Vietnam brother Jim T. Whitaker(Doris).

Survivors include his wife of 55 years Feral Coleman Wilcox, 2 sons Chris Wilcox (Lindsay) and Scott Wilcox (Lacey) of Alma, brother Earl Wilcox (Grace) of Waycross, 3 grandchildren Kaira Hayes (Caleb), Payton and Paxton Wilcox, and 2 great-grandchildren Cam and Kase Hayes.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 AM at the Alma First Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Sweatt officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9 until 10 AM. Internment will be at Elizabeth Chapel Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Paxton, Payton, and Mike Wilcox, Jonathan and Craig Coleman, and Vann Lamb. Honorary escort includes Donald and Martha Cothern, Danny and Joyce Giddens, Huel and Carolyn Medders, The Hardee's Breakfast Crew, Members of the VFW, Bethany Hospice of Waycross, Appling County Class of 1965, Maranatha Sunday School Class, Jack and Mary Doherty, Earl and Judy Callan, Rich and Diane Darling, Kirt and June Clay, and Evelyn Dunlap.
