Bobby Vaton Cothern, age 89, passed away at his residence November 24, 2025. He was a native of Bacon County, born April 09, 1936, to the late Otis Cothern and Hattie Taylor Cothern. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Jack, Mack, and Ted Cothern; sisters, Carolyn Sandiford and Evelyn Yawn.

He was a retired truck driver from Distribution South.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wanda Carver Cothern; son, Bruce Cothern (Angie Davis) of Hazlehurst; daughter, Lisa Music (David) of Alma; children of his heart, Marty Walters and Sheila Morris; two grandchildren, Scotty Music (Mallory) and Shawn Music; three great-grandchildren, Piper Hewitt, Wrenley and Kolter Music; brothers, James "Corky" Cothern (Barbara) of New Jersey and Larry Cothern (Kathy) of Alma.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Wolf Pit Church Cemetery at 11 AM with Rev. T.F. Yawn officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the cemetery from 10 AM until service time.
