Carolyn Virginia Graham Altman, age 85, of Alma passed away Monday evening (August 1, 2022) after an extended illness. She was born in Jeff Davis County on July 25, 1937 to the late Marcus Leroy Graham and Lorene Sears Graham.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Earnest Lee Altman, a brother, Judon Marcus Graham and sister, ImoJean Steverson.

Mrs. Carolyn was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. To say she was a housewife would be an injustice. She worked tirelessly on the family farm and numerous other jobs.  Her two greatest loves in life was her love of the Lord and her family. She also loved to cook and sing the old gospel hymns. She was a life long member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Jeff Davis County where she served as a Sunday school teacher and church secretary.

She is survived by her three children, Randy Altman, Stevie Altman and wife Leisa of Alma and Vickie Altman Baker and husband Bill of Baxley; four grandchildren, Jason (Anna) Rigdon, Brent (America) Altman, Garrett (Kelli) Altman and Shelby Altman; thirteen great-grandchildren, Graylynn, Anna Lee, Liza Rae, Finn, Fallon, Hudson, Dawson and Journee Altman, Jackson, Sydney, Carter, Cate and Cameron Rigdon; two brothers, Leroy Graham and wife Elaine and Wiley Landon Graham of Hazlehurst; also several nieces and nephews and special friend of the family, Benny Ray Carver  .

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Philadelphia Baptist Church 724 Philadelphia Church Rd. Hazlehurst, Georgia 31539. Pastor Mark Carver and Pastor T. F. Yawn will be officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Thursday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Brent and Garrett Altman, Jackson Rigdon, Ray and Roger Smith and Mark Graham. Honorary escorts will be: Bethany Hospice Staff, Julie Tillman, Marie Haselden and Paige Giddens.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
