Charles William Thrift, Sr., age 92, of Alma passed away October 2, 2022 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Pierce County July 17, 1930 to the late John Riley Thrift and Mary Mock Thrift. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Melba Jean Sellers Thrift, and brother, James Carroll Thrift. He was a member of the Open Door Church in Nicholls.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny R. Thrift of Alma, Charles Thrift, Jr. of Douglas and Tony C. Thrift of Jesup; two brothers, James Casper Thrift (Nancy) of Hoboken and Edward Ray Thrift of Pierce County; sister, Dorthea Nell Hodge (Ronnie) of Cantonment, FL; sister-in-law, Mamie Sellers of Waycross; 6 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Thursday (October 6, 2022) at 11:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Joe Rigdon officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

In lieu of   flowers donation may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN. 38105.
