Obituary

Charles Clifton Waters, Sr. was born on October 14, 1942 in Appling County, Georgia. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 28 years, Cindy Waters. Charles dedicated his life to those lucky enough to call him family — a circle he extended to include special friends like Dr. Phillip and Patsy Grooms, Thomas and Vicki Winslow, Terry Medders and Cherry Carter. Many would describe Charles as a simple man, because he lived by very simple rules: love your family, lend a hand when a hand is needed, and do your best to fulfill life's most important roles: husband, father, brother, friend and papa. Horses were a lifelong passion for Charles, and one he enjoyed sharing with his friends and family, teaching both his children and grandchildren to ride.

Charles enjoyed a long career with the International Elevator Union Contractors and retired as the Business Agent for Local No. 49.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Allie Mae Waters; grandson, Austin Waters; three brothers, and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Waters; 3 sons, Chip Waters, Chad Waters, Chuck (Jennifer) Waters; 3 stepdaughters, Kelly (David) Joslyn, Carrie Lee, Cassie (Brent) Price; grandchildren, Ansley (Will) Testone, Jalin & Jacee Waters, Oliver, Maloy & Sami Joslyn and Barrett Price.

Charles passed away peacefully, following a short illness, at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, December 12.  He was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church, where he enjoyed firing up the grill and helping prepare the Wednesday night meal.  He will be remembered for his quick wit, compassion for others, and his willingness to give his time in service of others.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 15 at 11AM, Ten Mile Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Pet Hayes officiating and eulogy given by Kelly Joslyn.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ten Mile Baptist Church Cemetery Fund  c/o Melanie Music, 1021 Caraway Road, Alma, GA 31510.

Face mask and social distancing will be required.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
