Chester Richard Bennett, 74, went to his eternal heavenly home on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was born on March 10, 1949 in Alma, Georgia where he was a life long resident.

He was predeceased by his parents, Darrell and Merle Bennett and his only sibling, Darrell Merlin Bennett (Skip).

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Holton Bennett. He is also survived by his three children Rachel Ellis (Darrell), Risa Arney (Bill), and Rob Bennett all of Alma. Lily Ellis, Madilyn Ellis, Bennett Arney and Jarrett Arney are his much loved grandchildren. He had one brother in law, Wayne Holton.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, former owner of Bennett's Nursery, a blueberry farmer, and a former co-owner of Alma Pac, a blueberry processing plant.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma, Georgia at 11:30 AM. The family will greet friends and relatives prior to the service at 11:00.

Pastor Ron Sweatt and Pastor Rick Brown will be officiating. Darrell Ellis will give a eulogy.

All blueberry farmers present and members of the Class of 1967 will be considered honorary pallbearers.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
