Clarence Doyne Hood, age 82, of Monroe, North Carolina passed away on Friday, November 4th at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, North Carolina. He was a native of Solgohachia, Arkansas, son of the late Richard Mac Hood and Ella Mae Wilson Hood and preceded in death by a son, Wayne Hood, four brothers, Burlin and Ernest Watkins, R.M. and Burl Hood and a sister, Edna Williams. Clarence was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Monroe, North Carolina, served in the US Army during Vietnam, the Korean Wars and retired after 20 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Cornelia Inez Wynn Hood of Monroe, NC., two children, Danny Hood of Waxhaw, NC. and Karen Hood Martin (Danny) of Monticello, GA., 4 grandchildren, Bradley & Stephanie Hood of Waxhaw, NC., Justin Martin of Monticello, GA. and Amanda Martin of Fort Benning, GA.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7th at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Vic Peacock officiating and eulogy given by Bill Murphy. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery with full Military Honors.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday from 11:30 until funeral time.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, the Heart Association or a Hospice of your choice.
The Military will serve as active pallbearers. All in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
