Curtis Altman, Jr., age 83, of Alma died early Wednesday morning December 18th, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Curtis Altman, Sr. and Hulda Carter Altman and was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Harper Altman, two brothers, Titus and Quinton Altman, three sisters, Louise A. Riggins, Sally A. Smith and Doris A. Davis. Junior was retired from Satilla R E M C after 41 years of employment and a member of New Vision Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Altman (Wanda), Ricky Altman (Sherry), a daughter, Jean Altman all of Alma, two brothers, Quitman Altman of Brunswick and Ernest Altman (Carolyn) of Alma. Also, eleven grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand child survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P M at New Vision Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Pet Hayes and Rev. James Robert Altman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 6 and 9 P M. The body will be carried to the church Saturday at 1:00 P M to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be Marty and Brandon Johnson, Travis, Dustin, Jaron, Scotty, Casey and Dereck Altman. Honorary will be Employee's of Home Health Care.
