Mrs. Gayle Daveen Meeks Smith, age 77, of Nicholls passed away May 27, 2024 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation after a short illness. She was born October 6, 1946 in Coffee County to the late David W. Meeks and Omaree Vickers Meeks. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis D. Smith and brother, Michael Meeks.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Alma First Baptist Church where she also the piano player for many years.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Mancil (Michelle) of Nicholls; two grandchildren, Malinda Thomas (Ben) of Alma and Caleb Mancil (Jessica) of Nicholls; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Loretta Thomas; two brothers, Darrell Meeks (Brenda) of Stockbridge and Charles Meeks of Nicholls.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Sweatt and Pastor George Carroll Paulk officiating.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 PM until service time.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
