IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David "Piker"
Lee
September 18, 1934 – August 22, 2020
David "Piker" Lee, age 85, of Nicholls passed away on August 22, 2020 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was son of the late John Q. Lee and Adel Kirkland Lee.
He was born and raised in the Lee's Chapel community in Bacon County. Having no children of his own, he loved to spoil and pamper all of his nieces and nephews. Coming from a large family, there were plenty to love. He had a nickname for everyone he knew. Most everyone in the community knew and loved Mr. Piker. He was an avid fisherman, Not deep-sea, though, no way! He fished every creek and pond in southern Bacon County. He loved catching fish and giving them to the "widow women" as he liked to call them. There have been many Lee fish fries at Aunt Mat's pond house over the years thanks to him. When no one else was having any luck fishing, he always caught some. He invited people to "go fishin" with him, but you had to be quiet and not play in the water.
He was a man of little earthly possessions. His "Mule," a boat, his old Chevy truck, some fishing poles and, most importantly, his chewing tobacco, were all he needed. He lived his last few years in Twin Oaks. Like everyone else, he adjusted, but always dreamed of going fishing. He wasn't perfect, nobody is, but our "Uncle Pike" was a good man, and he will be missed.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, L. H. "Buddy" Lee, Daniel J. Lee, sisters, Eunity Lee Sweat and Madeline Lee Sweat, stepbrother, Eugene Lee, stepsister, Mary Lee Hyers, brother in laws, Emory Johnson, Hilton Sweat and Edd Sweat. He was a member of the New Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include four brothers, Russell Lee (Joyce) of Callahan, FL., Quitman Lee (Betty) of Waycross, Ronnie Lee (Laveen) and Steve Lee (Carolyn) of Alma, sister, Bobbie Lee Johnson of Alma, step brother, Franklin Lee of Alma and numerous nieces and nephews
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 25 th at 10:00 AM at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev Mike Lee officiating.
