Dewayne Charles Thomas, age 73, passed away April 29, 2026, at Coffee Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Cartersville, GA March 12,1953, to the late Paul Lott Thomas and Mildred Wynette Tanner Thomas. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Jr. and Terry Michael Thomas.

He was a member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church. He retired from Scruggs Company after many years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, LaGay McDonald Thomas; his son, Dewayne Charles Thomas II (Cayley) of Alma; daughters, Amanda Lee Mercer (Daniel) of Marion, TX and Brooke Thomas; brother, Bruce Edward Thomas, Sr of Alma; five grandchildren, Dewayne Caelan Thomas, Madaline Bristol Fayth Thomas, Charlie Tate Thomas, Connor Evan Mercer, and Colin James Mercer; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 02, 2026, at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church at 2 PM with Rev. Charles Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Level Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 PM.

Active pallbearers include Michael Tallent, Jim Carter, Michael Thomas, Calvin Thomas, Andre Brinson, Jerry Walsh, Bruce Thomas Jr., Edward Streat. Honorary pallbearers include Bunny Deen and Ronnie Boatright.
