Dollie Townsend Johnson, age 92, of Alma passed away Sunday, December 22nd at her residence after an extended illness. She was daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Townsend better known as Col. Townsend and Verdie Wilson Townsend. Dollie was preceded in death by her husband James Monroe Johnson, Sr., son, Ronnie Johnson and four brothers, Blaine, Harold, Neal and Wade Townsend. She was a member of New Lacy Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Crews (Warren) of Waycross, three sons, James Johnson, Omar Johnson (Wanda) and Scott Johnson of Alma, eight grandchildren, Dolly Cadell (Jim) of West Palm, FL., Kathy Carter (Marty) of Valdosta, Ga., Ron Johnson (Andrea) of Bartow, FL., Misty Stauffer (Justin) and Steve Johnson of Alma, Brett Moody (Patty) of Hiram, Ga., Lyndon Moody (Julie) of Douglas and Terrell Moody of Waycross.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 24th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby with Rev. Robert Varnadore and Pastor Travis Peavy officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening between 6 and 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Justin Stauffer, Justin Fountain, Lyndon Moody, Bradley Haggard, Shannon Johnson and Timmy Medders. Honorary pallbearers will be; The Hardee's Breakfast Group.
