Donald Ray Meeks, age 84, of Nicholls passed away March 28, 2023 at Satilla Hospice House after a short illness. He was born January 26, 1939 in Bacon County to Carlton Mack Meeks and Annie Bell Thomas Meeks.

Mr. Meeks was retired from Milliken and Company. After retirement he loved spending time in his garden and with family.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Vinnie Mae Stokes Meeks of Nicholls; four children, Laura Kight (Danny) of Nicholls, Don Meeks (Kathy), Lisa Altman (Stevie) of Alma and Darren Meeks of Nicholls; eight grandchildren, Melissa Kight Beckham, Ashton Joy Kight, Anna Meeks Johnson, Justin Meeks, Shawn Hall, Aleisha Bagley, Trey Tillman and Peyton Meeks and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Wesley Chapel (Wolf Pit) Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Lewis, Rev. Danny Turner, Rev. T. F. Yawn and Rev. Austin Medders officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Shawn Hall, Trey Tillman, Bobby Bagley, Peyton Meeks, Chase Johnson, Stanley Beckham, Derrick Mills and Dewey Beckham. Honorary pallbearers will be; The Bacon County Senior Center, Wolf Pit Mens Sunday School Class, Benny Ray Carver, Andy Hayes, Phil Carver, Steve & Marie Hutchinson, D. L. Cothern, Dewayne & Leah Carver, David Jowers, Regina Newberry, Jamie & Connie Rivera, Randy Altman, Henry Kight, Juanelle Carver and Kristy Middleton.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
