Dorene Griffin, age 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family March 19, 2026, at Memorial Health University in Savannah, GA after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County, born June 12, 1949, to the late Samuel Wright Simmons and Mattie McCLellan Simmons. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Herbert Griffin, Sr.; daughter, Deborah Griffin; brothers, Don, Dewey, and Darrell Simmons; sisters, Dennell and Dianne Simmons, and Donna Simmons Griffin.

She was a member of New City Church, She worked as a parapro with the Bacon County School System before retiring after many years of service.

She is survived by her sons, David Griffin (Lynn), Daryl Griffin (Connie), Dewey Griffin (Joyce), and Daniel Griffin; brother, Dewane Simmons (Bobbie); sister, Doris Griffin; sisters-in-law, Martha Hall Simmons, Doreata Smart Simmons, and Emily Griffin Toler; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 23, 2026, at 11 AM in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Burkett, Rev. Calvin Morris, and Rev. Cole Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Level Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 9:30 until service time.

Active pallbearers include Cole Griffin, James Griffin, Carter Griffin, Jacob Griffin, Caleb Griffin, and Eli Griffin. All in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.
