Doris Waters Thomas, age 89, of Alma passed away Saturday, August 6th at her residence after a short illness. She was born on June 5, 1927 to Archie Waters and Birdie Taylor Waters. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Carlton Thomas, a son Linton Thomas, a daughter Patsy Horner and four brothers, Jack Waters, Jimmy Ray Waters, Glenn Waters and Johnny Waters. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Thomas and Donna Thomas of Alma and Willene Martin (R.V.) of Baxley, five brothers, Gene Waters (Geraldine), Jerry Waters, Bobby Waters, Ricky Waters and Mickey Waters (Nell) all of Jacksonville, FL., two sisters, Betty Tanner of Waycross and Darlene Solly of St. Augustine, FL.; also 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild survives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 9th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Julienne Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM Tuesday until funeral time.
Active pallbearers will be; R. V. Martin, David Tanner, Wayne Waters, Brian Tanner and Ronnie Kirkland. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
