Dorothy Nell Morrison, age 76, of Alma passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta after an extended illness. She was a native of Coffee County but had lived in Bacon County most of her life. Dorothy was daughter of the late Frank Nipper and Dorothy Mae Harris Nipper; preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Nipper, three sisters, Gloria Nipper, Patsy Ruis and Shirley Chancey and two brothers-in laws, J. Frank Ruis and Leather Taylor. She was a member of First Community Church.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Donald James "Yank" Morrison of Alma, three sons, Steve Trowell (Jona) of Valdosta, Ga., Billy Trowell (Vickey) of Alma and David Trowell (Cindy) of Waycross, two daughters, Ginger Lynch (Glynn) of Alma and Glenda Ellis (Jesse) of Valdosta, Ga., three brothers, James Nipper of Alma, Bobby Nipper of Blackshear and Ronnie Nipper of Baxley, two step- sons, Mike Morrison of Alma and Robert Morrison of Lyons, GA., three sisters, Ann Bazemore, Illa Jean Taylor and Betty Hood of Alma, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Mar. 2nd at 2:00 PM at First Community Church with Dr. Dale Carver officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Tony, Mark & Ken Nipper, Robbie Ruis, Jimmy and Tommy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be; Employee's of Baptist Village in Waycross and all others in attendance.
