Edith Frances Johnson, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home on September 02, 2026. She was born in Bacon County on September 06, 1937, to the late Tommie Lee Taylor and Frances Coley Taylor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Johnson; granddaughter, Stephanie Johnson; great-grandchildren, Giaona Johnson and Faith Moody; brothers, James Lee Taylor, Charles, Larry, and Donald “Duck” Taylor; sisters-in-law, Freda Ann Taylor and Janie Taylor; brother-in-law, Jack Tyre; nephews, Scotty Taylor and Charles Denny Taylor, Jr.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. She made each one of us feel special and loved. She had a gift for bringing people together through her love of cooking and baking. There was rarely a time when she didn’t have homemade goodies ready to share with family, friends, and those in her community. Her love for Jesus was at the center of her life, she lived out her faith through her kindness, generosity, and willingness to serve others. Sharing her homemade baked goods was one of the many ways she showed God’s love to those around her. Her sweet spirit, loving heart, and faithful example will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Stevie Johnson, Timmy Johnson (Lisa), Greg “Pojo” Johnson (Connie) and Tony Johnson (Felicia); daughter, Janet Overstreet (Michael); sisters, Jean Tyre of Jesup and Rhonda Taylor of Alma; sister-in-law, Cornelia Taylor; 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive; special friends, Janell Overstreet, Carol Newberry, and Shirley Carter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 05, 2026, at 11 AM in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Bentley and Rev. Vic Peacock officiating and eulogy given by Kevin Overstreet. Interment will follow at New Vision Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until service time.
