Mrs. Edna Hamilton Music passed away March 16, 2017 under the care of her family and staff of the Bacon County Hospital after a short illness.
Born on January 17, 1929 in Telfair County, Georgia, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Verlon Music, father Larkin S. Hamilton, mother Georgia Coleman Hamilton, four brothers Oras, Ernest, Theo and Orvid Hamilton and three sisters Myrtle Hester, Sally Dyal and Dorothy Stone.
Mrs. Music was a long time member of Douglas Chapel Church where she taught Sunday School, actively participated in the Senior Group and was know for delicious tea cakes, cream cakes, apple tarts, divinity and blueberry muffins she took to church gatherings. She was a volunteer Pink Lady for the Bacon County Hospital Auxiliary for 22 years and a former employee of B. C. Moore's in Alma.
She will be remembered as a faithful Christian, a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Marilyn (Ronnie) Ellis, Carolyn (Don) Varnadore and Earl (Melondia) Music of Alma and Mary Beth (Nick) Burke of Fernandina Beach, FL., 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her brother, Pete Hamilton (Mary Jo) of Brunswick, GA., a brother-in-law, Johnie Stone of Richmond Hill and two sisters-in-laws, Retha Taylor of Waycross and Jacqueline Hamilton of Brunswick, GA.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18th at 11:00 at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Turner officiating and a eulogy given by Mary Beth Burke. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 10:00 AM to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Darrell Ellis, Gramm Peacock, Corey Hatten, Chuck Peacock, Jonathan Varnadore, Phillip Music and Josh Mattox. Honorary pallbearers will be; Bacon County Hospital Pink Ladies, Peggy and Jeff Mullis and the Joy Sunday School Class.
