Edna M. Wheeler, age 88, of Alma passed away on August 29th at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was a native of Appling County but had lived in Bacon County most of her life. Edna was daughter of the late James Arvin Meeks and Mary Simmons Meeks and preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Ralph Wheeler and daughter in- law, Anne Strickland Wheeler. She was a member of Alma United Methodist Church and Office Manager of Appling County Hospital for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Wheeler, Jimmy Wheeler (Patty) and Benny wheeler (Debbie) all of Alma, five grandchildren, Jay Wheeler (Lori) Durham, NC., Jim Wheeler (Amber) of Alma, Candi Toole (Jason) of Lyons, GA., Casey and Cierra Wheeler of Alma, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 PM until funeral time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alma United Methodist Church or win Oaks Nursing Home.
Active pallbearers will be; Benny, Jimmy, Randy and Jim Wheeler, Jason Toole. Honorary pallbearers will be; Employee's and Residents of Twin Oaks Nursing Home.
