Edward McCarty, age 88, of Alma passed away November 21, 2024 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after and extended illness. He was born February 20, 1936 in Bacon County to Daniel Sterling McCarty, Sr. and Mary Rachel Carter McCarty.

Mr. McCarty was a retired farmer and was a member of the Alma Church of God.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry McCarty, three brothers, Lamar McCarty, Ernest McCarty and D. S., Jr. McCarty and five sisters, Ruthel Dyal, Alberta Herrin, Blanche Safely, Ola Mae Steedly and Edith Rix. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Jo Collier McCarty; children, Barry (Karen) McCarty, Mark (Dana) McCarty, Connie (Doug) Jarrard and Diane (Danny) Spell; two sisters, Dessie Osbon and Virginia Boatright; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Alma Church of God with Pastor Travis Peavy officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be Danny McCarty, Shane McCarty, Adam Jarrard, Joey Jarrard, Sidney Spell and Jon Spell. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
