Charlotte Elaine Thornton, age 75 formerly of Alma passed away suddenly May 18, 2022 at Pruitthealth Retirement Home in Moultrie. She was born on September 14, 1946 in Charlotte, North Carolina but had lived in Alma for many years. Her parents Emmett David Holton and Elizabeth Annette Evans Newton; two brothers, Eddie Holton and Emmett Arthur Holton and sister, Robin Dismuke, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Derrick Thornton and wife Sarah of Moultrie and two granddaughters, Taylor and Julia Thornton.
