Pearlie Mae Bell Staten, was the daughter of the late Johnny Bell and Idellia Sykes Bell. She was born in Alma Bacon County Georgia on August 12, 1953. She was born and reared in a Christian home where she learned early in life her personal path of duty and followed it with unselfish dedication until her untimely passing.
She matriculated through the public school system of Bacon County, Alma, Georgia. Pastor Staten was a graduate of the class of 1971. She earned an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology.
She was the second youngest of five children, two of which preceded her in death. She became a Christian at an early age and a member of Bead Street Holiness Church under the Patronage of her mother the late Elder Idellia Bell. Pastor Staten was especially loyal and dedicated to her church. Her hard and diligent work for the building of God's Kingdom allowed her to later become an ordained minister. She was ordained under the leadership of Dr. E. L. Williams, Jr. She was later chosen to carry on the legacy of Pastor at Bead Street Holiness Church, as a result of being a compassionate, loving, and God-fearing woman. Hard work was nothing new to Pastor Pearlie Staten. She accomplished many great challenges in her life. She had a long record of being helpful and dedicated to others in Mission Work.
Pastor Staten was employed at Coffee Correctional Facility now known as Core Civic until her health began to fail. Pastor Staten's smiling face was the first face that you saw when you entered the front door. She was the beautiful front desk officer. She was loved by everyone.
Early in life, Pastor Staten met and married Roger "Red" Staten, Sr. and to this union was born four children, one daughter, Amethaeus Nicole Staten which preceded her in death.
On Saturday, May 27, 2017, the Lord called Pastor Pearlie Staten home to eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memories three sons: Francois Staten (Alma); Roger Staten, Jr. (Oakland, CA); Reese Staten (Alma); three step-sons: Derek Gibbs (Alma); Scottie Williams (Waycross); Isaiah Staten (Alma); three sisters: Ida J. Simon (D.J.); Dorothy J. Bizzle (Henry); one God-sister: Oletha Wilson; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; four uncles: Jessie Bell (Ella Faye); Rev. Wiley Bell (Wanda); Virgil Bell all of Alma, Ira Bell (Helen) of Thomasville, GA); two aunts Ida Jenkins, Patricia Bell of Alma. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and endearing friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First African Baptist Church with Rev. Stephon Deen officiating and eulogy given by Dr. Elijah L. Williams, Jr. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery
