Obituary

Elie Mayo Mims, age 87, of Alma, died Sunday, July 21st, in Twin Oaks Nursing Home, after a short illness. Mayo was a member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church, a retired veteran of the U.S. Army and the Vietnam War, and the son of the late Burtis Langston and Rudy Quinn Mims. A brother Commas Mims and sister Rudine Mims also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years Norma Louise Cole Mims, son Rusty Mims, daughter Nancy Mims, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services and military honors will take place Saturday July 27th at 11 AM at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Hutchinson officiating.

Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
