Elma Hersey Ellis, age 89, of Nicholls passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. The daughter of John Calvin Hersey and Mollie Elizabeth Rowell Hersey, she was born February 6, 1930 in Ware County. She was preceded in death by great grandson James Asher Ellis, brothers Howard and Artie Hersey, sisters, Dicie Hersey, Ozelle Hutcheson and Hazel Hutcheson. She was a member of Liberty Church of God.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years Vernie "Bud" Ellis, sons Mitchell Ellis, Johnny Ellis and Timmy Ellis, daughter Toni Ellis Bennett (Tony) of Nicholls, four grandchildren Darren Ellis (Nikki), Erica Williams (Kyle), Donny Burch (Courtney) and Christy Williams (Jeremy), 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12 ^th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Ellis and Rev. Leon Guest officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Gary Ellis, Donny Burch, Kameron Cole, Hunter Ellis, Dane Hutchenson and Kyle Williams. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
