Emelyn Cothren West, age 77, passed away March 14, 2026, at Southeast Georgia Health System after a short illness. She was born in Appling County October 25, 1948, to the late Purdy Cothren and Carrie Mobley Cothren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jackie West; her son, Michael West; brothers, Howard, Lamon, Linton, Leland, and Eston Cothren; sisters, Bonnie Taylor, Juanita Taylor, and Eloise Cothren.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Starnes (Terry) of Brunswick; brother, James Cothren (Willene) of Brunswick; sisters, Marie Boatright (Ronnie) of Alma and Freda Cooper of Alma; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 11 AM in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Whaley and Rev Owen Atha officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 6-8 PM.

Active pallbearers include Raymond Cooper, Brayden West, Dalton Boatright, Landon Boatright, Roger Kiser, Hunter Toler, Spencer Toler and Scotty Boatright. All in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.
