Emmitt Hayes, age 90 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26th at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on March 7, 1926 to the Thomas Hayes and Dicy Mims Hayes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Rigdon Hayes, a son Tommy Clay Hayes, four brothers, Emerson Pete Hayes, Elbert Hayes, Ernest Hayes and Bernie Hayes and two sisters, Ethell Ellis and Geneva Ellis.
Emmitt was a member of Liberty Church of God and served in the US Army.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Hayes and Andy Hayes of Alma, two daughters, Julie Lavender (Tim) and Jill Baskin (Levi) of Alma, one sister, Thelma Lewis of Graham, GA., former daughter-in-law, Londie Mims of Alma, grandchildren, Tiffany Hayes Walker, Andrew Hayes, Danielle Batten Taylor of Warner Robin, GA., Kimmie Lavender, Dalton & Alyssa Baskin of Alma, Timothy Lavender of Alma, Jason Lavender of Atlanta, Brittany and Lindsey Baskin of Alma and Christy Lavender Waldron of Douglas and 7 great-grandchildren Brayson Starling and Ian Greg Taylor, C J, Molly & Eli Waldron, Kinsleigh Jo and Kalleigh Jade Lavender.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29th at 2:00 PM at Liberty Church of God with Rev. Leon Guest, Rev. T. F Yawn, Rev. Pet Hayes, Allen Ahl and eulogy given by Caleb Waldron. Interment will follow in Mims Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM.
