Obituary

Eugene Lewis, age 85, of Alma passed away Thursday, January 10th at St. Vincents Hospital in Jacksonville after an extended illness. He was a native of Coffee County but had lived most of his life in Bacon County. Eugene was son of the late Rueben Lewis and Maggie Rigdon Lewis; preceded in death by a son-in-law, Vic Smith, a grandson, Billy Ray Tanner, Jr, three sisters, Laura Bell Carter, Clara Mae Deen and Lois Jackson and three brothers, Tommie Lewis, Clarance (Nanny) Lewis and Otis Lewis. He was a member of Wesley Chapel New Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Willie Mae Holton Lewis, two sons, Mike Lewis (Lorna) of Alma, Billy Lewis of Alma (Linda Kay) of Metter, Ga., three daughters, Sheila Lott, Margaret Smith and Judy Lewis, two brothers, Mark Lewis and Warnie Lewis all of Alma, one sister, Valarie Bauer of Jacksonville, FL., 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 13th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Rigdon, Rev. Jason Hayes and Rev. David Capps officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Tommy Whidby, Jimmy Lewis, Earl Lewis, Ronnie Lott, Brandon Hall and Anthony Jiminez. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
