Eugenia Moore Ray, age 89, of Alma passed away Thursday, February 12th at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Ware County but had lived most of her life in Alma. Eugenia was daughter of the late Elisha Moore and Fannie Thornton Moore and preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ward Ray, two brothers, Byron and Grady Moore and a sister, Grace Parkerson. She was a member of Wesley Chapel "Wolf Pit" Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Byron Ray (Dottie) of Alma, three grandchildren, Jenny Moorman (Whit) of Douglas, Cindy Gibson of Dalton, Ga. and Ben Ray of Athens, Ga., and eight great-grandchildren, Caroline and Sam Boatright, Lee and Laurel Moorman, Alex, Andrew, Amelia and Abe Gibson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 16th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Callahan, Rev. Harry Parkerson and Rev. T. F. Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Southern Congregational Methodist Campground.
Active pallbearers will be; W. C. Yawn, Romie Reyes, Jamie Williams, Sam Boatright, Alex Gibson and Jimmy Cribbs. Honorary pallbearers will be; Ministers and wives of Southern Congregational Methodist Church, Regina Hall and Glenda Ferris.
