Evelyn Kato Bowman, age 79, of Alma went home to be the Lord on Tuesday, January 26th at Baptist Village after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the late Willie McGay Kato and Vera Estelle Tomlinson Kato and preceded in death by her husband sterling C. Bowman and a infant daughter. Evelyn was retired from the Alma City Police Department and was a member of the Alma Church of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Monk of Waycross, two brothers, Lamar Kato (Ruth) of Port Orange, FL. and Terry Kato (Georgia) of Douglasville, GA., two sisters, Willene K. Christopher (Larry) of Blairsville, GA. and Suzie White (Mike) of Alma and 1 grandson, Aaron Monk of Waycross.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 28th at 2:00 PM at the Alma Church of God with Rev. Travis Peavy officiating. The body will be carried to church at 1:00 PM to lie in state. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Nephews, Cory, Shane, Jeff, Gary and Greg Kato, Graham Wiseman, Chuck and Kevin Christopher. Honorary pallbearers will be; Past and Present City of Alma Employees and Shake Women's Ministry of Alma Church of God.
