Evelyn P. Carter, age 70, of Alma passed away June 23, 2023 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born January 23, 1953 in Clinch County to the late Horace Purvis and Marie Griffis Purvis.

Mrs. Carter was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Griffis and Eddie Griffis and three sisters, Dale Green, Barbara Sweat and Debbie Walker. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, James Donald "Donnie" Carter; three children, Scott Carter (Melissa), Swede Carter (Brenda) and Misty Johnson (Jack) all of Alma; eight grandchildren, Jarrett, Josh and Jolie Carter, Jackson and Lawton Johnson, Marley and Annalyn Carter and Chad Thrift and four brothers, Stanley Griffis, Tiny Griffis of Homerville and Donald Conners and Roy Conners of Sylvania.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Ten Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Woods and Rev. Brian Gill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Jarrett Carter, Josh Carter, Jackson Johnson, Brad Taylor, Kenneth Allen and Kereth Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be; Members of Ten Mile Baptist Church.
