Evie Lee Davis, age 87, of Alma passed away August 7th at the Appling County Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was a native of Coffee County and daughter of the late Elijah Merritt and Ola Cassandra Wright. Evie was preceded in death by two sons, Lamar and Johnny Davis, a grandson, Ryan Garcia, sister, Myrtle Lee Jones and two brothers, Ivey Burkett, Jr. and Benny Burkett.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Davis of Lyons, GA. and Robin Davis of Gainesville, GA., four daughters, Brenda Bell (Adam) & Yvonne Lynn (Jimmy) of Baxley, Kathy Thomas (Windle) and Marsha Courson of Alma, three brothers, Johnny Merritt of Hazlehurst, Ollie Burkett of San Antonio, TX and W. T. Burkett of Uvalda; also 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild survives.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 10th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in Bridgeford Church of God Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday evening between the hours of 6 and 9 PM.
