IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Foster
Rowland
November 14, 1949 – May 29, 2024
Foster Joseph Rowland, age 74, of Alma, Georgia passed away on May 29, 2024 at his residence after an extended illness.
Foster was born November 14, 1949 in Bacon County. He was the son of the late Elery N. Rowland and Margaret Brigman Rowland.
Foster graduated from Bacon County High School in 1967. After high school, his love of sports led him to work for the Bacon County Recreation Department. He was a coach, umpire, and referee for many in the Bacon County Community. Foster eventually decided to join the family business at Ron Rowland Chevrolet with what would become a lifelong career as a car salesman. His outgoing and charismatic personality made him a success in the car business and resulted in many of his customers becoming lifelong friends. Foster was always "making a deal" whether it was selling a car or scalping tickets at a tailgate. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and was happiest sitting in Sanford Stadium yelling "Go Dawgs!" He was always so full of life!
In addition to his parents, Foster was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald "Ron" Rowland and sister, Freddie Ann Wood. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Etters; daughters, Brittany Crotty (Kevin) and Brooke Cosby of St. Simons Island, Georgia; grandchildren, Drew Crotty, Ellie Ann Crotty, Charlie Grace Cosby, and Grady Gunn; brother, Chuck Rowland (Joyce) of Blackshear, Georgia; sisters, Judy Turner (Donald) of Alma, Georgia and Brenda Brigman of Baxley, Georgia; aunt, Laura Cangialosi of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Vivian Rowland of Alma, Georgia; as well as many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Morris and Bishop R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery immediately after the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 PM until time for the funeral service.
Active pallbearers will be Greg Cash, Robert Johnson, Rick Persons, Casey Streat, Jerry Taylor, and Steve Yaun. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Boatright, Teddy Boatright, Stacy Carter, Wendell Hart, Teddy Solomon, Donald Turner, and the Bacon County Class of 1967.
