Fred Thomas Chappell, age 81, of Nicholls passed away April 19, 2024 at Appling Nursing & Rehab Pavilion after an extended illness. He was born July 13, 1942 in Pierce County but had lived most of his life in Bacon County. He was son of the late Lester Chappell and Leona Howell Chappell.

Mr. Chappell served in the United States Navy and was a retired Millwrights Carpenter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Johnson Chappell, son, Marty Chappell and two brothers, Pondie Chappell and Tony Chappell. Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Hodges and husband Kevin; two grandchildren, Logan Hodges and wife Jade and Zoie Hodges; two greatgrandchildren, Beau Manin Hodges and Nellie Grae Hodges; brother, Shafter Chappell and sister, Paulette Weaks (John).

A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Wolf Pit Cemetery with Rev. Pet Hayes officiating.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
