Obituary

Freda Ann Taylor (80) A life well lived ended peacefully after an extended illness on June 9 th , 2020.

Freda Ann Stewart Taylor was born on November 16,1939 at the home of her maternal grandparents'. She passed into eternity in her own home surrounded by her loving family.  She was a kind woman blessed with a loving heart and generous spirit.  Born the 2 nd child of Alex Linton and Madie Bratcher Stewart, she was full of personality. During WWII her family moved to Jacksonville Florida.  When she returned to Alma in her teen years, she met and married the love of her life James Lee (JL) Taylor.  They would be together until his death 57 years later.  During her life, Freda Ann worked with Doctor Goldwasser, then moved on to be a Caseworker for the Developmental Learning Center.  But the job she loved most was her position as the Branch Manager for the Bacon County Library.  A position she held for over 20 years.  An avid reader, she loved meeting and greeting library patrons, helping them find the books they would enjoy and helping the younger children develop a love of reading and learning. She was active in her community where, for many years, she was charged with management of the "Angel Tree" which was placed in the library at Christmas for people in need that lived in the community she loved so much. During these years while Freda loved and raised her three daughters and she and JL found they have enough love to extend it to foster children.  Over the years while their daughters were growing up, they acted as "short-term" foster parents to children in need.  She always said a Mama's love is the best thing that can be divided and still multiply. She and JL lived happily on their farm until retirement and then they began to travel. For 20 years, they traveled 49 of the 50 states and also went abroad on several trips touring Europe and South America.  Their favorite trip was an extended cruise where they passed through the Panama Canal.  In their later years and due to their great love of camping, JL and Freda spent their summers in Vermont as camp hosts at Silver Lake State Park.  An adventure they carried with them the rest of their lives. In the years after her loss of JL, Freda loved reading, watching the Hallmark channel, taking trips with her girls, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having her hair and nails done at the beauty shop. She never lacked for company as her family spent time with her daily. She always had a snack and a glass of milk ready.  She was always smiling and happy to see whomever she ran into, whether it was at the grocery store, church or someone stopping by. She will be laid to rest next to JL at Friendship Baptist Church where she spent nearly 60 years of her life serving as a Sunday School teacher, WMU director, VBS Director and working with the youth as well as many other jobs.  Her favorite position at church was supporting her husband as a Deacon's wife. She loved Jesus, with whom she surely now resides and encouraged all those she met to do the same. This was especially true with her daughters and their families.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Taylor; parents Alex Linton Stewart and Madie Bratcher Stewart, a sister Linda Stewart Griffin

She leaves behind to grieve her passing, Daughters Melissa "Lisa" Taylor, Jamie (Steve) Griffin and Sherri (Marty) Anderson, Grandchildren: Wade (Kim) Johnson, Brian (Tara) Griffin, Megan(Trenton) Smith,  Zach Griffin, Michael (Brooke) Anderson, Tom (Lisa) Anderson, Hayden (Emma) Anderson, Armando (Faith) Martinez-Anderson, Great Grands: Cameron, Lille, and Jackson Johnson, Hadley, Barrett, Emersyn and Juddson Griffin, Grayson and Amelia Smith, Caroline Anderson, Avery and Wyatt Anderson, sisters Yvonne Futch and Sue Stock and sisters-in-law, Edith Johnson, Jean Tyre and Rhonda Taylor.
