Obituary

Gail Millicent Pierce, age 87, passed away peacefully January 24, 2026. She was born March 7, 1938, to Gary Louie and Margaret Greenway Pierce. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephews Guy Harvard Pierce Jr and Louie Alonzo Pierce.

Gail, a Bacon County High School Graduate, attended Martha Berry College. She worked for Georgia Farm Bureau in Macon before returning to Alma to begin her 48-year career at Satilla Rural Electric Membership. She continued to live in Alma until 2020 when she moved to Oklahoma to be with her son and family.

Gail was full of life. She loved to travel, read, cook and spend time with family and friends. Actually, she never met a stranger. As a talented cook, she also enjoyed canning and always sent you away with a to-go plate or a jar of soup or jelly she had made. It was almost impossible to get a recipe as she was so good at her cooking it was all from the heart. She loved visiting her friends at the nursing home. Even when her vision no longer allowed her to drive and she moved to town, she walked almost a mile several times a week to the nursing home. She truly had a servant's heart and loved sharing her time with others, feeding them physically and spiritually. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and later attended Alma First Church of the Nazarene when she moved to town.

With her independent spirit and fire, she never backed away from a challenge. She tackled any task and found a way to make it work. Her inherited work ethic never left her idol even in her retirement. She walked two miles daily and spent much time doing for others and her community. Her presence in Alma was so missed when she moved to Oklahoma. She was a great friend to so many.

Gail is survived by her son, Damon (Patricia) Pierce; grandson, Ryan; step granddaughter, Corinne (Jack); step great-grandson, Tidus, all of Lawton, Oklahoma; brother, Guy Pierce; nephew, Scotland Pierce; great niece and nephew, Ashlie Hennesy and Reece Pierce; a great-great nephew and niece and many cousins.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 04, 2026, at Pine Lawn Cemetery at 2 PM with Bro. Marty Medders officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 12- 1:30 PM.
