George Dewey Norris, age 81, of Alma passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Satilla Hospice after an extended illness. He was born at Lake Butler, Florida on June 11, 1936 to the late Earl Norris and Beulah Horn Norris; besides his parents a wife, Minni Walenah Norris, two children, George Norris, Jr. and Kathy Beck and a sister, Eunice Padgett preceded him in death. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam and Korean War and also served in the Marines and National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Johnson Norris of Alma, two children, Doug Garris (Sue) of Hilliard, FL. and Tonya Current of Folkston, GA., one brother, Rowland Norris (Patricia) of Jacksonville, FL., three sisters, Mary Norris, Emma Lou Drury of Folkston, GA. and Lilly Mae Swagerty (Jimmy) of Jacksonville, FL., 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service s will be held Wednesday, April 11 ^th at 11:00 from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Rowland Norris, Jr. officiating and eulogy given by Chad Beck. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until funeral time. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery

Active pallbearers will be; Joshua Dunnigan, Christopher and Zeak Mullis and Chad Beck. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
