George Starling, age 82, of Alma passed away Sunday, March 2nd at the Hospice House in Waycross after an extended illness. He was a native of Coffee County but had lived in Bacon County all his life. George was son of the late William Starling and Laura Belle Sears Starling; preceded in death by his wife Hazel Spell Starling, two brothers, Bill & J.W. Starling and five sisters, Nancy Erwin, Marie Burkett, Francis Tiner, Magaline Larsey and Mamie Mosley. He was a member of Liberty Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Leon Starling of Nicholls and Bryan Starling of Winter Haven, FL., daughter, Joyce Paneitz (Dwight) of Alma, brother, Talmadge Starling of St. George, GA., sisters, Laura Jean Smith of McClenney, FL., Doris Cothern of Jacksonville, FL. and Maxine Oliver of Hazlehurst, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Hayes and Rev. Leon Guest officiating. Interment will follow in Mims Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Robbie & Roger Johnson, Richard Stone, Wayne, Johnny & Timmy Starling. Honorary pallbearers will be; Hospice House Employee's and all others in attendance.
