Dr. George Joel Williams, Jr, age 87, passed away on March 11, 2025, after a short illness. He is the son of the late George Joel Williams, Sr and Mary Ritchie Williams. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna Marie Carter Williams.

He attended Mercer University, University of Georgia, and University of Tennessee, where he obtained his Doctorate of Dentistry. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order.

George was a die-hard fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He hitchhiked to his first Georgia-Florida game when he was twelve years old. He was a season ticket holder for decades. He started the tradition of meeting up at the "grassy knoll" at Sanford Stadium that generations of fans have kept up.

Survivors include one daughter, Kris (Patrick) Ferris of Waverly, Ga; one son, Joel (Amanda) Williams of Nicholls; four grandchildren, Patrick and Chloe Ferris, Jagger and Cooper Williams; one sister, Rosemary James of Douglas, Ga.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Crosby Funeral Home with interment following at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Alma, Ga.

Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2025, from 6-8 P.M. at Crosby Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Rob Bennett, Ryan Graves, Woody Adams, Deuce Ferris, Jagger Williams, Cooper Williams, and H.R. Lee.
