Mr. Gerald Gaines Edwards, age 84, of Alma passed away Wednesday May 17 th at Hospice Satilla in Waycross after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 50 years - Vina Garrett Edwards, parents - Columbus and Edna Peacock Edwards, a special adopted parent – Henry Silcox of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, brother – Jackie Edwards, sister – Joyce Lee and granddaughter – Makayla Beverley.
Survivors include a special adopted parent – Florence "Mimi" Silcox of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, three children – David Edwards (wife Sonya), Daniel Edwards (wife Sandy), Debra Beverley (husband Bill); six grandchildren – Kyle Edwards, Kimberly Edwards McLean (husband Dylan), Amber Edwards McDonald (husband Patrick), Dalton Edwards (wife Lana), Will Beverley (Fiance' Renee), Leanna Beverley (close friend Jacob); five great grandchildren – Zepplin McDonald, Adalyn Edwards, Jase Edwards, Mollie Gale Edwards and Emma Grace Edwards.
Mr. Edwards spent most of his life in Bacon county and younger days living about 15 years at Jacksonville Beach, Florida where he learned his trade of being a Flooring Mechanic. He retired after 30 years, with great talent in many areas of floor covering and designs. He was a member of Old Pine Grove Church in Alma and dearly loved his church family.
He loved to grow a garden and supply fresh vegetables for all of his family with a yearly tradition of bringing them all together to put up corn at least one day every summer. He enjoyed spending summers fishing on the lake in St. Augustine and in the rivers in Georgia. In his younger years he loved taking his boys fishing around the areas of Jacksonville Beach and camping with his family at every opportunity. He spent five years building his family a home on the family farm land in Alma, Georgia and resided there until he went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A private graveside service with immediate family will be held at Pinelawn Cemetery in Alma and Pastor Randy Cox officiating on Saturday, May 20 th at 10:00 am.

Crosby Funeral Home of Alma will be in charge of arrangements.
