Gerald Dale Rewis, born and raised in Alma Georgia died suddenly at his home in Uvalda at the age of 70 on June 11. Gerald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was also a devout Christian, whose faith was the very cornerstone of his life. His faith inspired all who knew him, and he was a source of great strength and guidance to his family and friends.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Brenda Rewis, his children, Joseph Rewis (Jessica), Michelle Waters (Timothy), Jamie Stone (Clint), Stephanie Rewis (Charles Medders), Barbara Hope (Marcus), Charles Carroll (Alysha), Donald Carroll (Lona), twenty-five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Gerald is also survived by his brothers Johnny Rewis (Shelia), Mike Rewis (Genia), Danny Rewis (Vickie), Randy Rewis (Theresa), sister-in-law Linda Sue Rewis, numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Iva Lee and Howard Rewis, as well as brothers Olin and Jimmy Rewis.
After graduating from Bacon County High School, Gerald answered the call of duty and served his country with honor in the United States Army. His service was marked by dedication, courage, and an unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers and our Nation. Following a decorated military career, Gerald transitioned into the construction industry, where he began his life-long vocation as a contractor. His integrity, skill, and a meticulous attention to detail, earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike. He retired after many successful years, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and excellence.
Gerald will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, devotion to family, and his unwavering faith in God. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Gerald's family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of those who have offered their love and support during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of faith, service, and love will endure forever.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17 at 2:00 PM at Southside Church of God, located at 102 Taylor Road, Alma, Georgia. A military honor guard will pay tribute to his service as he is laid to rest alongside many other family members and loved ones at Wesley Chapel 121 Wesley Chapel Church Road, Alma, Georgia.
