Giles L. (Shorty) Tallent, Jr., age 64, of Alma passed away Thursday, February 7th at Satilla Hospice in Waycross after an extended illness. He was a native of Trion, Ga. but had lived most of his life in Alma. Shorty was son of the late Giles L. Tallent, Sr. and June Wilson Tallent and precede in death by a sister, Laura Jean Hollis. He worked the Bacon County Sheriff Dept. and Alma Police Dept. for many years and served in the US Army during Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Shari Tallent of Alma, three sons, Patrick Tallent of Alma, Giles Levi Tallent III (Sarah) of Sterling, Ga., & Michael C. Tallent (Meagan) of Alma, a daughter, Tracy Gibson (Aaron) of Hoboken, Ga., 5 grandchildren, 3 nephews, 2 nieces and 12 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 10th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Carver officiating and eulogies given by Ricky Gilliard and Joe Boatright. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 11:00 AM until funeral time. Interment will follow in Mims Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be; Randy Harkleroad, P.J. Douglas, Andre Brinson, Ronnie Boatright, Joe Boatright and Mark Cothern. Honorary pallbearers will be; Police Dept., Sheriff Dept., Fire Dept., EMS and E 911 Dispatch.
