Glenda E. Deen, age 78, of Alma passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Baptist Village after an extended illness. She was born in Bacon County on February 15, 1939 to the late Lewis D. Carter and Eula Mae Waters Carter. Mrs. Deen worked at Milliken for 20 years and was owner and operator of Country Place Retirement Home for 15 years. She was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two children Mitchell and Donell Deen and two sisters, Nelda Boatright and Etwenda Peacock Carter.
Mrs. Deen is survived by her husband Donald Deen of Alma, two children Alesia D. Carter (Bruce E.) and Rodney Deen of Alma, one brother, Wesley Carter (Clara) of Alma; also four grandchildren, Miranda D. Kaiser of Jacksonville, Justin Deen of Nicholls, Jessica Dee and Colby Deen of Pensacola, Florida and three great-grandchildren Aleyaa and Makenzi Kaiser and Landon Deen.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 19th at 2:00 PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Eason, Rev. Travis Peavy officiating and a eulogy poem will be give by Miranda Kaiser. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Tracy Deen, Sammy Peacock, Ricky Deen, Mike Boatright, Al Deen and Keith Kelly. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
